106 This was a good story although I was surprised at a rebellious Amish daughter. Hannah is impossible. If her parents say white, she'll say black. If they say rain, she'll say sun. She refuses to work at what she doesn't like and openly talks back to her father which while it is wrong I can understand. Her father lost his farm in Lancaster during the Depression and moved the family to North Dakota. He refuses the advice of his neighbors and plants corn which dies. His wife is a milquetoast who just submits any will of her own to him. He says God will provide and does little to improve his own situation. God does provide but I was taught that God helps those who help themselves and this father would rather his family starve than take advice or help from others.
